We assume you are using the services of a professional, reliable freight forwarder/mover. However, experience shows that some shipments arrive damaged.
You may find out about the damage in one of the following two situations:
Your shipment has been randomly chosen to be inspected by the Customs Authorities at destination. In such a case, make sure that you or your representatives are present during inspection.
This is a required condition by the Warranties and Conditions of your Certificate of Insurance.
If during the course of the inspection you or your representative discover damage or loss to your belongings please make a written note of this on the release/delivery forms.
You may discover damage to your shipment at home, once you have begun unpacking.
In case of a claim please follow these steps to ensure your claim is processed in a timely and professional manner:
- Make sure you have the original Confirmation/Certificate of Insurance. This was either given to you by the mover or mailed/emailed to you by us.
- On your Confirmation/Certificate of Insurance you will find a name of a local adjustor/surveyor. Please read carefully the provisions and conditions, which allow you to contact him. Please note that not in all cases are you allowed to contact the local surveyor.
- Claims are subject to a certain deductible/excess that you have pre-determined.
(See your Confirmation/Certificate of Insurance).
- There is a limited timeframe to submit a claim. This period is measured from the time the goods arrived at their final destination. Please look at the Conditions and Warranties attached to your Certificate of Insurance in order to read exactly how many days you have to submit the claim.
- At the first sign of any damage to your belongings or any missing belongings, fill out the form called "Reporting a Loss First Notice"
and send it to us right away either via fax or mail. When you have completed unpacking your shipment please fill out the form called "Claim Form for Personal Effects and Household Goods"
. When filling out the form please make sure you have included all required documents as per instructions at the bottom of that form.
Send the form and documents to our offices as soon as possible either via fax or mail. Make sure you are submitting your claim within the time limit (usually within 30 or as many days as is customary) as detailed in the Warranties and Conditions of your Certificate of Insurance.
- Your claim shall be processed as soon as it is received, after consultation with our experts. We shall notify you as soon as possible whether the claim will be settled through the mail or whether there is a further need for us to send a loss adjuster who will assess the damage and prepare a detailed report to submit to us.
We can assure you that if you follow the above instructions your claim will be processed in the quickest and most professional manner.
